Fairhive: Autism Reality Experience

The Autism Reality Experience held on 16 July was extremely well received by colleagues across the organisation. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with many attendees commenting on how insightful and impactful they found the experience.

Those with family members, friends or colleagues who are autistic found the session particularly valuable, as it helped them better understand some of the day-to-day challenges and sensory experiences that autistic people may face. Many attendees said it provided a new perspective and encouraged them to reflect on how behaviours and interactions can be interpreted differently.

The experience helped to increase awareness, empathy and understanding, highlighting the importance of creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels supported and able to thrive. Participants commented that the immersive nature of the session brought the realities of autism to life in a way that traditional training often cannot, helping them appreciate the potential impact of sensory overload, communication differences, and environmental factors.

Overall, the session was considered a valuable learning opportunity and has generated positive conversations about neurodiversity, inclusion and how we can all play a part in making our workplace more accessible and supportive for autistic colleagues, customers and visitors.
