ARE For Fire (RTC)

In associtaion with

The inspiring work of the fire service in responding to road traffic collisions is both crucial and challenging. Each emergency call presents a unique set of circumstances, especially when it involves individuals who are neurodiverse. For those with sensory sensitivities, like individuals on the autism spectrum, the experience can be particularly overwhelming.

Understanding and accommodating the needs of neurodiverse individuals in such high-stress situations is paramount. Simple adjustments tailored to their specific requirements can significantly improve outcomes. However, this necessitates proper training for fire personnel to effectively support and ensure the safety of all individuals involved.

In collaboration with Bedfordshire Fire Service, the ARE for Fire (RTC) training program has been developed as a fundamental requirement for all fire personnel. This training immerses participants in simulated accident scenarios, replicating the sensory challenges that autistic individuals may face. By undergoing this course, firefighters can develop strategies to enhance safety and achieve optimal outcomes in these critical situations.
